Nazareth Weekly: Term 2, Week 9, 2026

Community | From the College Principal

It is not the strongest in the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. Charles Darwin

One of the many joys associated with being a teacher is reconnecting with former students in their adult lives. It is simply amazing to hear their stories of their lives beyond school and in many cases the interesting careers they have forged in industries and professions that didn’t exist at the time we knew them as students. Thus, as a community of teachers and parents we really must focus on educating our children for their future rather than our past.

Understandably, the focus of education in 1869, when Darwin penned the words above was very different to our mission in 2026. Nevertheless, Darwin’s observation about the importance of adaptability for species survival is an important element of a modern education. As parents know, life rarely goes to plan. Daily, we need to adjust our schedules while in our careers and in our role as parents we need to adjust our thinking and approaches based on new circumstances and information.

Encouraging children’s natural curiosity about the world and high levels of engagement in schooling is good preparation for life after school. Helping our children embrace the idea of becoming life-long learners equips them with the skills and confidence to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

We look forward to hosting our annual Career Expo next Tuesday (Week 10). It promises to be bigger and more diverse than ever. No doubt many, if not most of the students who attend the Expo will leave with a much bigger vision of the range of careers open to them. After all, there is nothing like speaking to people currently working in the different industries to gain real insight into what’s possible. You will find details of the Careers Expo below.

Best wishes for the week ahead.

Brian Schumacher
College Principal

11-12 | Senior Student Parking

Thank you to all students who continue to uphold our College expectations whilst driving and parking  on site. Your diligence regarding safety and the consideration for our College Community is truly appreciated.

We would like to advise families of a slight change to the procedure for students parking their vehicles on school grounds.

Moving forward, all students who have been approved to park on site will be required to clearly display their parking disc while their vehicle is parked at school. The parking disc will serve as confirmation that the student has submitted the required driver's forms and have agreed upon term/conditions set by the College. Please know that these will be distributed to students during Wk. 9 and 10.

This adjustment will assist staff in efficiently identifying authorised student vehicles and ensure that all student drivers have completed the necessary documentation to allow us to keep all student drivers safe on our campus.

We are so fortunate to be able to provide parking options for our Senior students, so once again, thank you to the many students who ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities.

Stage 2 | Holiday Study Workshops

Study Workshops are scheduled for Stage 2 students during the upcoming Term 2 holidays. Workshops will be held at either the Kidman Park Campus or Flinders Park Campus depending on the subject.

Please note that not all classes and subjects will have a workshop scheduled, and individual teachers determine whether a class requires this additional time during the term break.

Students who are unable to attend a workshop are expected to contact their teacher to explain their absence. Students are also reminded that they must only be on campus when they have a workshop scheduled and must have left the Campus by 3:00pm each day.
