Nazareth Weekly: Term 1, Week 10, 2026

Nazareth Weekly: Term 1, Week 10, 2026

Community | From the Acting College Principal

Holy Week, Easter, and Our Shared Journey

As we begin Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday, we enter the most sacred time in the life of the Catholic Church. Holy Week invites us to walk with Christ through his journey of humility, sacrifice, love and ultimately hope. From the joy of Palm Sunday, through the solemnity of the Cross, we arrive at Easter, the celebration of new life, resurrection and the enduring promise that light always triumphs over darkness.

For us as a Catholic community, Easter is not simply a moment in the liturgical calendar; it is the heart of who we are. It calls us to live with purpose, compassion and hope, and to place relationships and service at the centre of all that we do. Inspired by our five Patron Saints, we are reminded of the values that shape our community, faith, humility, courage, compassion and service, values we strive to model for our students each day.

  • Catherine - St Catherine of Siena empowers us to be ministers of compassion and healing.
  • Dominic - St Dominic had the deepest compassion for all humans.
  • McAuley - Catherine McAuley demonstrated to truly be witnesses to Jesus’ message and to care for all our sisters and brothers.
  • MacKillop - St Mary of the Cross MacKillop was a shining light of example for others, encouraging them and leading them.
  • Romero - St Oscar Romero was committed to ensuring all people had access to basic needs and that their rights were upheld.

May this Easter season bring renewal, reflection and hope to you and your family.

God Bless.

Jeff Sochacki
Acting College Principal

Community | Project Compassion and Vinnies Bins

Lent is a time of reflection, prayer, and generosity in the Catholic tradition. It invites us to renew our faith and live out the call to almsgiving - offering support to those in need. A reminder for families that there are a number of initiatives Nazareth is supporting for Lent in 2026. We encourage you to contribute in a way that resonates with you:

  • St Vincent de Paul Clothing Drive – Blue collection bins are located at each campus, for students and families to donate clean, good-quality clothing. Drop off your items before Wednesday 8 April (Week 11).
  • Caritas Project Compassion – 🔗 Donate Here. Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 for Caritas as a community.

Thank you for your generosity and support!

R-12 | Co-curricular Sports Uniforms - Jersey Numbers

We have recently had a few situations where students on the same team are wearing the same jersey number. This can happen when jerseys are passed down to siblings or sold second-hand and the uniform shop has not been notified of the number change.

If your child is playing an after-school sport and is using a jersey that was handed down or purchased second-hand, please let the Uniform Shop know the jersey number so we can record it.

If there is a number conflict, please contact your child’s Sports Coordinator so the issue can be resolved.

Co-curricular Sport Uniform guide can be found here.

Year 1-3 | Missing Decodable Readers – Can You Help?

We are currently missing a large number of decodable readers from our Junior Primary classrooms. We kindly ask all families to check at home—in bedrooms, bookshelves, school bags, and other common hiding places—for any readers that may not have been returned from last year or this term.

Each reader costs approximately $10 to replace, and having them returned promptly ensures all students continue to have access to the resources they need for their learning.

Please return any found readers to your child’s class teacher as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support!
