Back in August, we bought you the story of Lachlan, Alexander, Medhansh, and Maninder who invented “The Sign Speaker” as part of a statewide STEM Competition. After clinching the state title and “People’s Choice Award” in the SA competition, the Year 6 students took their idea to the National STEM MAD stage online, competing against innovative ideas from STEM savvy students all across Australia!
On Wednesday this week, all applicants attended an online awards ceremony, where hundreds of students were commended for their innovative ideas to help solve real-world problems.
We are SO proud to announce that yet again our group of dedicated STEM students took out the competition winning not one but two awards – including the major overall national award!
Congratulations to Lachlan, Alexander, Medhansh, and Maninder, and their teachers Mrs Olivia Bordignon and Ms Jane Watson who facilitated the competition entry at Nazareth. Thank you also to Catholic Education South Australia who sponsored the SA arm of the competition, and inspired us to peruse for excellence nationally!
The journey is not over yet for these STEM students, who are off to Melbourne next week to represent Nazareth and South Australia at the STEM MAD National’s showcase where they will again have to create a showcase of their learning and pitch their idea to students/teachers from all around Australia.
