It is our continued expectation that all those who access our campuses continue to adhere to local traffic and pedestrian rules, ensuring that our community’s safety is paramount.
We remind our community of our mutual responsibility when using our shared traffic zones, and the expectations of driver and pedestrian behaviour to ensure the safety of all.
Below are key areas to be aware of across our locations. Please use the information below to familiarise yourself with the local streets, traffic zones and expectations.
We encourage families to report any traffic concerns to either our Front Office staff or via SAPOL – Traffic Watch (police.sa.gov.au).
The Early Childhood Centre (ECC) car park is strictly only for families picking up and dropping off children attending the ECC on that day. Under no circumstances should this be used by families with children who do not attend the centre. To comply with regulations, we must ensure that parking remains available for our ECC families at all times.
If you have children attending both the ECC and the Findon Campus, you may use the ECC car park only for the duration of dropping off or collecting your ECC child. Please do not leave your car parked in the ECC car park while you walk into the College or wait for other activities, including after-school activities.
We kindly ask all families to respect this policy to ensure that our ECC families can safely and conveniently access the centre.
There is limited parking in the Crittenden Road car park. Please be aware that this car park is also used by families and community members attending other community activities, including our Senior Wise Owls and parishioners.
Parents are reminded not to park in our reserved car parks at school pick-up / drop-off times. These parks mustn’t be obstructed, as they are designated for emergencies, loading, and cross-campus staff. The wheelchair access park must also only be used by those with a valid permit.
To prevent frustration and congestion, it is recommended that you park in the surrounding streets adhering to the relevant Council parking directions. Please avoid parking in local business car parks when dropping off or picking up your child.
We encourage families to park in the surrounding streets and walk into the campus to collect or drop off children. Surrounding streets are Esk St, Lucas St, Almond Ave (between Lillian and Amanda Ave only), Amanda Ave, Lillian Ave, and Crittenden Rd. This is less than a 200m walk from vehicle to campus in most cases.
Please be aware of parking restrictions in some of these streets. Please ensure you park correctly – not obscuring driveways or other vehicles.
Please be aware of parking restrictions in neighbouring streets.
Please ensure you park correctly – not obscuring driveways or other vehicles.
An important reminder to those travelling around the Flinders Park Campus surrounding streets to please abide by the 40km speed limit for the Charles Sturt Council to ensure the safety of students, staff, and other motorists.
The streets surrounding the St Gabriel Centre are within the West Torrens Council and have a 50km speed limit – an important reminder to those travelling to ensure the safety of students, staff, local residents and other motorists.
We encourage families with students at the St Gabriel Centre to drop in the streets on the northern side of Linear Park, allowing students to walk over the bridge. This will alleviate traffic congestion in the streets surrounding the St Gabriel Centre.
It is important to note that the Gowrie Childcare Centre carpark and driveway should never be used by parents.
Carparking is available for students, families and staff along the entire ring road, with designated staff and visitor parking areas also.
Student parking is available along the southern side of the campus.
A Visitor car park is located at the front of the campus.
The Findon Campus has two Kiss ‘n Drop zones; one at the front of the campus, off Crittenden Rd and the other at the back of the campus on Almond Avenue.
These zones only legally operate as Kiss ‘n Drop zones between 8:30 am – 8:50 am and 3:10 pm – 3:30 pm. Stopping in either of these zones during the above times is illegal, may attract an infringement notice, and can cause traffic flow disruption.
Prior to 3:10 pm, the Crittenden Road Kiss ‘n Drop is a bus zone, meaning there is no standing/stopping/waiting in the slip lane. Should the slip lane be full, you would be required to go around the block and attempt to access the slip lane again.
Approaching the Almond Avenue Kiss ‘n Drop zone from Amanda Avenue is a ‘no stopping or parking zone’. If you pull over to the side of the road and stop, even if you are in your car, you are in breach of the road rules.
When traffic is waiting to use the Kiss ‘n Drop zone on Almond Avenue – do not drive on the opposite side of the road to pass. This is extremely dangerous for all community members.
Students and family members are reminded not to cross in front or in between cars in the Front Kiss N Drop Zone. Please utilise the footpaths to walk safely to and from your vehicle.
How to Use the Kiss ‘n Drop
Standing in these areas is for no longer than 3 minutes. The driver is not permitted to leave the vehicle.
Please go to the furthest part of the Kiss ‘n Drop area to allow more cars to enter the area and improve traffic flow.
The Crittenden Road Kiss ‘n Drop area begins at the front car park.
The Kiss ‘n Drop area at Almond Avenue begins just back from the corner of Esk Street.
The entrance and exit to the Nazareth car parks should be kept free at all times
Please ensure your child enters and exits the vehicle from the left-hand side only and does so promptly.
Please ensure that when leaving the Kiss ‘n Drop area, you are aware of cars that may be behind or next to you.
This video by SA Police provides valuable information for road users about the rules and how to be safe at Emu and Koala school crossings:
The Flinders Park Campus car park has a 10km/h speed limit – an important reminder to those travelling through to ensure the safety of students, staff, and other motorists.
Student drop-off and pick up should be from the designated left lane in the car park. Furthermore, we ask that students exit their vehicles from the left-hand side only to avoid traffic in the right-hand lane of the car park.
Parents waiting for 3:25 pm dismissal are to park in a vacant car space within the car park where possible.
Families are to use only the Northern boundary Kiss ‘n Drop slip lane, on the Hartley Road side of the Flinders Park Campus, before and after school.
The surrounding streets where families could consider dropping off their children to walk into the two main entrances are:
Hartley Road Main Entrance
Southern Entry Gate (off Linear Park)
The Eastern Entry Gate (off Holbrooks Road) is not a main student entrance for the Flinders Park Campus, and therefore, the car park on Holbrooks Road is not an approved student drop-off or pick-up location.
Families are only to use the Northern boundary Kiss ‘n Drop slip lane in the Hartley Road car park, where students can safely approach vehicles.
The section of Holbrooks Road which surrounds our campus, is a no-standing / no-parking zone. Please ensure you are aware of these restrictions and do not obscure traffic or the Holbrooks Road car park driveways.
Ring Road Access
The Kidman Park Campus is surrounded by a ring road, therefore taking all campus traffic off of Findon Road. Vehicles should be entering the campus via the southern driveway for student drop off and pick up and exiting via the northern driveway, both before and after school. For security purposes, a large section of the ring route will close for the majority of the school day, opening and closing at drop off and pick up. Should students or staff who are driving need to enter or exit, they will be able to utilize their fobs. Visitors to site during school time have road and parking access along the front southern side of the campus enabling them to enter and exit.
There is no rear access to the campus for vehicles or pedestrians.
Student Drop Off / Pick Up
Designated drop-off and pick-up areas are available for students, families, and staff along the entire ring road. Importantly, the ring road from the end of the gymnasium on the southern side of the campus is one way therefore vehicles must pull over to the right side to use the waiting bays.
When dropping off and picking up, local Traffic and Parking regulations must be adhered to. It is important to note that students cannot be dropped off or picked up on Findon Road as this is an approved bike lane. Walking and cycling continue to be highly supported modes of transport.
Consider your child cycling to school. We provide significant bike rack space at all of our sites. These areas are secured and monitored by video surveillance.
We encourage all families and students to look at the Adelaide Metro routes and use this to support your travel route to and from school. Routes can be found on the Adelaide Metro website.
Almost all bus routes currently listed below as School Service Routes cover both the Flinders Park and Kidman Park Campus. We have undertaken some research on routes and any alternative bus stops on behalf of families and tabled this for ease of access.
Where a route may not go directly past the Kidman Park campus, in many cases, there is an option on either Valetta Road or Grange Road, a very short walk away.
It is approximately 1400m between Flinders Park and Kidman Park via bike or walking, or approximately a 12-minute walk. Many students currently walk on average 300-500m to neighbouring streets to be collected by their families.
Students can recharge their Metro Cards in our Student Services/Reception areas.
