Faith Life at School

Grounded by Catholic beliefs.

At Nazareth, we invite our community to a deeper understanding of God through authentic, engaging, and life-giving experiences.

Grounded by our Catholic beliefs, we aspire to be a living experience of Church, with every family at the heart of what we do each and every day.

We are inspired by Jesus of Nazareth and our Patrons – St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, St Catherine of Siena, St Oscar Romero, St Dominic and Catherine McAuley – after whom our Houses are named.

You will notice the symbols of our faith in our community as a sign of our Catholic identity. Children and families will have many opportunities to learn more about our Catholic faith and participate in its many beautiful traditions.

Religious Education is an integral part of our curriculum, and our daily routines include time for prayer, service to others and care for our environment. Religious Education within the Catholic context utilises a holistic approach that encourages our students to explore their interconnectedness with the world around them and with God.

At Nazareth, opportunities exist within the formal curriculum and the faith life of the College to learn about our Catholic traditions and our connection to the mission of the wider Church.

Service to others and caring for God’s creation.

We develop servant leaders who contribute to a world beyond themselves and instigate positive change. Students are engaged in caring for the environment through gardening and recycling initiatives; they are involved with fundraising activities for Catholic Charities and help build a caring and supportive community through our Buddy and Social Justice programs.

Liturgy and Catholic celebration.

Liturgy and ritual is an essential part of our Catholic tradition, and your child’s participation will include prayer and participation in Masses to mark important events in our community. Mass is at the heart of our faith, and we are a proudly Catholic community, so any opportunity to engage in the most special of celebrations is always worthwhile.

Families are welcome to participate in Catholic rituals, traditions and outreach programs. This can be through joining in class prayers, attending community Masses and supporting our service and outreach initiatives.

Families can also enrol their children into the Sacramental Program, where the children can become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church. From Reception to Year 12, we continually examine young people’s needs as we prepare them for life as critical, informed and motivated contributors to the local community and beyond. In our community diverse cultures and religions are recognised and embraced.
