Sustainable Partnerships Tackling Food Insecurity and Promoteing Student Wellbeing

Did you know that Nazareth has proudly cultivated partnerships with Foodbank and Woolworths (Findon)?

Both organisations support Nazareth to enhance the student experience through innovative programs and sustainable practices.

Woolworths’ ‘Food Diversion Program’ has been a game-changer since its inception in Term 2. The Findon store generously donates fresh produce and bakery items that would otherwise be discarded, providing a sustainable solution that not only benefits students but also contributes to reducing environmental waste. Scheduled pickups every Monday and Wednesday ensure a steady supply of these items make a continuous and positive impact.

Simultaneously, Nazareth is an active participant in the Foodbank Lunch Program, receiving regular deliveries of essential items like fresh fruit, tinned fruit, bread, cheese, and butter. These provisions play a pivotal role in supporting the Break Space program, a valuable initiative that provides students with lunch, an alternative space for relaxation and connection, and a platform for students to engage with counselling services and enjoy various games and activities.

Food insecurity, a challenging circumstance, can often go unnoticed and affects individuals across the socioeconomic spectrum, sometimes in unexpected situations. Regrettably, this is increasingly becoming a reality for many families and students across Australia.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Foodbank and Woolworths (Findon) for their unwavering support. We would also like to acknowledge Detmold Group who have generously supported us with providing packaging solutions, enabling us to distribute food goods to students and families. Without their generous contributions, Nazareth would be unable to provide such extensive support through innovative programs that make a significant impact on the lives of our students.

In fostering these positive partnerships, we exercise our commitment to being an innovative, flexible, and responsive community.

We welcome and greatly appreciate additional support in advancing our programs.

Do you know someone who may be interested in contributing to these programs? We invite families and community members to join us in our efforts, specifically in sourcing donations of fresh fruit, muesli bars, and other lunch items.

If you or your organisation are interested in supporting these programs or know of others who might be willing to contribute, please reach out to us via email info@nazareth.org.au. Your generosity and involvement can help us expand our reach and continue making a positive impact in our community.
