Pathways & Partnerships

We believe in creating pathways for all.

As part of our approach to Pathways and Partnerships we offer a wide range of Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses from the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) as well as an increasing number of VET pathways and skills programs with connections to industry and community.

As a Nazareth student, young people in our care are able to explore the range of learning and pathways available to them, including combinations of SACE subjects, VET qualifications and community outreach experiences, leading to pathways to University, industry, apprenticeships, further training and employment.

Depending on their selected course and pathway, students may undertake their learning across our Flinders Park Campus, Kidman Park Campus, St Gabriel Centre and in some instances even off campus, enabling students to consider and explore broad options to fulfil their aspirations.

Courses can be tailored to best suit the needs of our students so that they enjoy and fully engage in their senior years of learning and prepare for life after Nazareth as independent, knowledgeable and skilful young adults with the capabilities and employability skills to make an impact in their world.

Explore, immerse & grow.

Our Pathways and Partnerships strategy is designed to enable students to gain the knowledge, skills and capabilities that equip them for their futures. Stretching across our curriculum, and through our approach to wellbeing and Mentor Group structures, students are supported to grow their thinking about themselves as learners, community members, and future citizens.
Providing opportunities to collaborate and network with industry, employers and community.

As students undertake their learning at Nazareth, they are exposed to opportunities and experiences that immerse them in the world beyond school so that they can inform their thinking about their own futures. These are considered rich and valuable learning experiences that complement curriculum learning. Increasingly, there are opportunities to collaborate and network with industry, employers and community, including;

  • Work experience
  • Industry-specific subjects (SACE Industry Connections)
  • Work-related subjects (SACE Workplace Practices, Beyond School)
  • Industry Immersion experiences and excursions, including Try-a-Trade
  • Course and Career Counselling
  • University Enrichment Programs and Tertiary Pathways exposure
  • Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Pathways exposure
  • Micro-credentials and short courses
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications, including Stackable VET
Vocational Education & Training (VET)

VET stands for Vocational Education and Training and is formal training designed to give students skills for work, particularly in industry and trade professions. There are many opportunities for Nazareth students to participate in VET.

VET options are recognised towards the SACE, and this supports students to make significant progress towards completing VET qualifications at the same time as completing their SACE. Some completed VET certificates may help for some University or TAFE entry.

Nazareth students can access a range of VET courses across a variety of different industry areas. Nazareth works with a number of different training providers so students can pursue their individual pathway and interests.

A growing number of VET courses are delivered in our School Based Program at Nazareth through partnership arrangements with registered training organisations (RTOs). Other VET courses are offered through Community Based Programs at other schools or through attending TAFE or other Providers such as Western Technical College.

Each VET course has various entrance criteria, and enrolment is subject to negotiation regarding dates, venue and a range of other factors. Where VET courses are through Community Based Programs or other Providers, students will need to get their own transport to the training venue.
