Meta is beginning to remove Australian users under 16 from Facebook, Instagram and Threads on 4 December 2025, as part of a government mandate to enforce a social media delay for this age group. The company is informing affected users and will complete the removal of all known under-16 accounts by December 10, when the law officially takes effect. New sign-ups for users under 16 will also be blocked from 4 December.
