At Nazareth, we take pride in celebrating success in every form, and our students’ achievements in sports are no exception. Our dedicated teaching and learning team and co-curricular coordinators provide unwavering support to students pursuing elite athletic pathways. We extend our congratulations to the following individuals who accomplished special achievements in their respective sports throughout Term 4:

The U15 Boys’ and Girls’ National Tournament is the first opportunity for young (12-15 yo) players to be a part of a representative team. Eighteen teams of more than 300 players from Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and New Zealand took part in the event.
Yiorgos Coutsoumbes – Soccer
Yiorgos Coutsoumbes represented South Australia in Football (Soccer) at the National Schoolboys Tournaments in Canberra and Sydney. Grateful for the support from his teachers and particularly Mr Roussos, Yiorgos showcased his skills and determination.
“A great deal of soccer talent is located on the east coast, so attending these tournaments have allowed me to see for myself the wide range of skills that students my age have, but also it has enabled me to place myself along a continuum of abilities,” shared Yiorgos.
SA’s significant improvement, and Yiorgos being awarded the Team Player Award, culminated in his selection for the All-Australian First Team. The sole SA player on the team, Yiorgos looks forward to showcasing his skills in the UK next year.
“I look forward to being able to experience and showcase my skills in the near future outside of Australia as well,” he said.
Aydin Ozcagli – Soccer
Aydin Ozcagli’s exceptional soccer skills have earned him a Football South Australia State U13 Soccer team spot. Selected from 400 trialling boys, Aydin is part of an 18-player squad training rigorously for upcoming State games in 2024.
Lexie Evans – Track & Field
Lexie Evans secured a spot in the State Track and Field team, representing South Australia at the National Track & Field competition in Tasmania. Despite facing challenges, including a personal best jump and a commendable 6th place finish in the 4 x 100m Relay, Lexie emerged stronger from the tournament, setting the stage for her future sporting endeavours.
Indiana Fowler – Basketball
Indiana Fowler (Year 6) earned a spot in the U14 Girls State Team for Basketball. Competing in the Southern Cross Challenge in Melbourne, Indiana also joined the SA Basketball High-Performance program, a three-tier system designed to nurture and develop young basketball talents.
Congratulations to all these exceptional athletes for their dedication, hard work, and remarkable achievements. Nazareth is proud to support and celebrate the success of our talented students in the diverse field of sports.
