Empowering Every Child: Our Commitment During National Child Protection Week

As Australia observes National Child Protection Week, the Nazareth community stands strong in its commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. The week-long campaign, held annually, serves as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to create safe and nurturing environments for all children.

The theme for this year’s National Child Protection Week, “every child in every community needs a fair go,” connects deeply to our mission at Nazareth. At Nazareth, diversity is not just acknowledged, but celebrated. Our community is made up of many and varied families, each with their own unique stories and challenges. At Nazareth, “your story is our story”, and it’s this very sentiment that underpins our commitment to supporting every child on their journey. We take great pride in knowing each and every family deeply, and this knowledge forms the foundation of our pastoral care model.

The SA Child Protection Awards, a vital component of National Child Protection Week, recognises exceptional individuals who go above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. In a heartwarming testament to the exceptional care within our community, a guardian from our college was recently nominated for an esteemed SA Child Protection Award. The Awards are sponsored by the Department for Child Protection in partnership with the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN).

This dedicated guardian’s journey exemplifies the core values of Nazareth and reflects the nurturing environment that we provide, where families are supported, celebrated, and empowered to create better futures for the children they care for.

In National Child Protection Week, we acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of all individuals, volunteers, organisations and young people within the child protection sector. Wellbeing permeates every aspect of life at Nazareth. By celebrating the diverse stories that make up our community, we continue to be a place where every child can thrive, and every family is embraced.
