STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and it is the fastest moving industry in the world. This area has seen rapid growth over the last few years and graduates who possess these skills are in the greatest demand both here in Australia and abroad. As more and more jobs become automated and people continue to be replaced by robots, it is essential we provide our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be an integral part of this unknown and ever changing future.
Nazareth has a commitment to engage our students in STEM opportunities. Subjects like coding and robotics are now key topics taught across the college. Activities such as Virtual Field Trips, Maker Spaces and Immersive Technology will begin to appear in lessons here at Nazareth as we continue to push the envelope in this space. Nazareth prides itself on being at the cutting edge of education and this is to ensure we are meeting the emerging needs of our students, preparing them for a rapidly different future to what we know today.
During Week 4, our Primary students will celebrate STEM week. Over the week, there will be numerous hands-on activities for all ages, beginning with a Number Facts Tournament on Monday. Other activities will include a Neuro-Odyssey workshop, drone show, Lego NXT robotics workshop, coding competition and a robot wars demo. Stay tuned for photos throughout the week and the announcement of our competition winners!
